The Colorado Buffaloes have received a second big time secondary commitment in one week now that New Jersey cornerback Yuri Wright has given his verbal commit. Wright, who many analysts incorrectly assumed would be heading to Notre Dame or Rutgers, is a star, another incoming player for Greg Brown's defense that could be an immediate impact player. Wright had been in the news as of late due to some tweets from his private account that had reached the public eye. But make no mistake, this is a huge get for Colorado and, combined with Kenny Crawley, will form the foundation of the 2012 class.
Welcome aboard Yuri!

Position: Cornerback Measurables: 6-2/180 40 Yard Dash: N/A High School: Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, NJ)
Rankings: - Rivals: 4-star, #7 ranked CB - 247Sports: 4-star, 96, #4 ranked CB - Scout: 4-star, #10 ranked CB - ESPN: 4-star, 82, #4 ranked CB
Other Schools of Interest: California, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Wisconsin and many, many others...
Status: Verbal to Colorado
Notes: From ESPN ($): "Perhaps falling under the national radar, Wright has some of the better skill-set at the corner position in 2012. His height, hips and polished footwork are rare at the position for a 6-foot-2 corner. Tall with great height and length with more than adequate strength. Flashes excellent burst as well as top-end speed. Fluid and smooth in his movements but is also physical with a ball-hawk mentality. Understands schemes and expertly reads the quarterback and underneath route development. Does an excellent job anticipating the pass. Footwork and transitional skills are what set him apart."

Big get for the Buffs!! Starting to get some players in the defensive backfield with the last two commits. I am sure that this young man has learned his mistakes with respects to Twitter and I wish him well with our beloved Buffs.
Congrats Yuri and use this opportunity wisely.
JimmyLBuff - January 24, 2012
I am definitely worried about those tweets, lets hope he learns how to behave himself (stay quiet on the twitter please?) and can produce for the defensive backfield which needs it so badly.

Good week to be a Buff!

Way to go Greg Brown!
So glad our secondary is looking more like a strength than a weakness. Welcome aboard Yuri!

Odds on him leaving (willingly or unwillingly) the program vs getting drafted in the NFL?
waterboy31321 - January 24, 2012
I’m so jacked about the potential of this secondary with Bell, Henderson, Harrington, Crawley and Wright! Plus this means we probably get to see Orms as a safety where he belongs, right?
Connor Shreve - January 24, 2012
You repeated my thoughts.
I honestly didn’t think we’d get Wright and Crawley. But since we did, we’ll probably see Orms either in the nickle or at safety permanently.
CUJCC - January 24, 2012
I certainly hope so
I think the additions at CB plus the returning talent and having Jared Bell back from injury means that we will actually have enough depth in the Secondary to play guys where they fit best.
Wright, Crawley, Walker plus the guys we’ve got coming back make for a pretty young group of guys, but one with a heck of a lot of talent and promise.
DavidAGerhardt - January 24, 2012
This is AWESOME!
RMoysters33 - January 24, 2012
I'll say it again...Wright and Crawley, we going to make CU legendary again!!!
phegevista - January 24, 2012
again!
Still jacked!

BOOM
Starting to see the recruiters on this staff coming through. Anyone else looking foward to Wright and P-Rich going at it in practice? Hopefully no one posts that trash talking to Twitter.
clbuff28 - January 24, 2012
Twitter
I have also heard that his twitter account is either has been hacked in the past or it is not him. Today he sent out a tweet saying you will hear from me on signing day on which college he will attend. Shortly there after we got the news that he had commited. I take twitter as a whole as a grain of salt.
Rebel14 - January 24, 2012
Wow
I thought after Crawley we would be a distant third to get Yuri, huge get. Hopefully this is not the limit of some other big time players. Also great to start getting a pipeline to Don Bosco Prep.

Big sigh
Please teach this young man to straighten up and fly right Coach.
Queso Mal - January 24, 2012
I'm of course thrilled that we are getting him
I just have a little apprehension. Of course I did some really stupid s**t when I was young so I can’t fault him, I just hope takes this chance seriously.
Queso Mal - January 24, 2012
Huge signing for you guys..........
but you better keep an eye on your girl when Yuri gets to town because if there is one thing he really likes, it’s _.
PullManiac - January 25, 2012
Hey at least you don't have to worry about that with your guys right
Buff'em Up - January 25, 2012
Hey I was just friendly joking
I don’t think the homophobia is appropriate there.

Phil Fraser - January 25, 2012
Sorry, it is an ambigous sentence he wrote
You can see how I could have read it differently. As long as not bad intent meant, then I’m cool.

It’s inhumane

BuffulanceMan - January 26, 2012
Coming from Jersey....
…if we have a pipeline to Don Bosco, that’s AWESOME…..
NJ is one of the most underrated states for recruits, as pre-“Rutgers is semi-decent” players just used to leave the state in droves and ignored their roots.
There are usually some great finds in the state. Pretty amazing that CU is digging in there a bit and something I NEVER expected to see happen….
CraigScanlan - January 25, 2012
Definitely
In sorta related/interesting news, the two schools with the most players on the Pats and Giants are Rutgers and BC.

Staff making a run at 5 star DE Darius Hamilton
Yuri’s teammate. His dad played with Kanavis in NY. He had highly considered Rutgers. Still has one visit left.
1 in a million?
Soo you’re saying there’s a chance? I read ya.
huckthefuskers - January 26, 2012
Is there a question mark, or an exclamation point at the end of your subject heading?
Buff-in-CA - January 26, 2012
Well, with Shiano heading to the Tampa Bucs, hope we can pounce on a bit more NJ talent that might not go to Rutgers now
