2 Great articles in the DC about incoming recruits

Kyle Ringo does as a great job explaining how CU landed 3 top tier recruits from an elite HS.

Kenneth Crawley is described as the most game ready of the 3 from Woodson. What's interesting is how Wayne Johnson, Woodson HC, describes De'Jon Wilson -

De'Jon is a kid who can be an All-American as long as he's doing what he's supposed to do and learning the system and everything the Colorado staff asks of him," he said. "If he's doing that and he's playing fast every play, you all are going to see an animal."

This is something I have read before about De'Jon. The kid has a high ceiling but the key will be for the CU staff to get this guy to play every down.

The article doesn't expound much on Walker other than saying he is the most versatile of the group. It should be interesting to see what position he ends up at.

What surprised me was Wayne Johnson's admiration for Greg Brown.

Johnson said he is a longtime admirer of CU defensive coordinator Greg Brown. He said he and Brown teach many of the same things to their defensive backs. In fact, Johnson began using a teaching tape that Brown put together 20 years ago during his first stint in Boulder as secondary coach under Bill McCartney.

Who knew. I think the pipeline from Woodson to CU is a great new development by the staff and hopefully it pays off for years to come.

The other article breaks down our 2 high profile incoming QB's. I'm still not sold that Dillon is the real deal but I am optimistic that he will have time to mature and develop behind Connor Wood, who I'm excited about. I have read that one of the big reasons Wood could not lock down the starting QB spot at UT was because of his inaccuracy. I was extremely impressed with the job Rip Sherer did with Hansen. It took a while but towards the end of the year Hansen had really shown marks of improvement. If Rip can do the same job with Wood that he did with Hansen I think 6-7 wins next season is not out of the question.

Looks like Jeffrey Hall will announce

this evening at 6:30pm

that article about the QBs is... odd
and even Cody Hawkins proved that just because you’re highly rated by recruiting services or summer passing academies, doesn’t always translate to touchdown passes and victories on autumn Saturdays.

That’s absurd. As a recruit, Hawkins had notoriety for 2 things- he was the highest rated recruit in the class (which speaks more to the overall quality of that class than to him), and he was an Elite 11 QB. That status is exactly the same as what causes Ringo to label Dillon as a “blue chip.” Hawkins was never an elite recruit.

I also think people overstate the fact that Hirschman is missing spring practice. I don’t think it gives Wood a head start. I think it gives Wood a chance to catch up. He was in the program, but he was running the scout team- meaning he was running the OTHER TEAM’S offense. Hirschman was running our offense. Good luck to both guys, and I hope that Schrock earns a scholarship.

also, Hirschman is still throwing in 7 v 7 drills

He’s just not running around

Guess I'm basing my opinion that Wood will start

on what Hirschman showed us lastyear year and my optimism on what I hope Wood can do. I do think competition for the starting job will make both better and could result in Nick getting the nod.

that goes back to the old statement that the most popular player on the team is the backup QB

because he’s a blank slate. Right now, Wood is that blank slate. And remember that, at the time, we didn’t know Hirschman was injured all year. Whoever wins the job will be a starter, but it seems like a lot of people think that it’s already a foregone conclusion based largely on Wood’s high school ranking.

Not a forgone conclusion but Hirschman has an uphill battle coming off the injury

I haven’t seen Wood play but based on how he was rated when being recruited, I can only guess that he has a little more upside than Nick.

The one thing I like about both of them is we finally have 2 big QB’s vying for the position.

Explain please?? Inside joke I’m not privy to?

You really need to start watching Parks & Rec my friend...
Only if you will start watching Psych.
