Well here we go! It's signing day and that means it's time to stare at the fax machine and hope that all of our signatures get in on time. Really only one uncommitted guy to keep an eye on today and that's California linebacker Seth Jacobs, who will announce his decision at 7:30 p.m. tonight and is choosing between Colorado, Oklahoma State and Arkansas. The other potential prospect that the Buffs are looking at, Louisiana athlete Jontrey Tillman won't likely be deciding today.

Hall Signs with Buffs
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
off topic, but what happened with CJ and Klatt?
I thought Klatt left to focus on game announcing, but now he’s on in the mornings and I don’t see CJ on the roster at all.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Klatt went to 104.3 the fan in the mornings and CJ is still on in the afternoons at 102.3
CJ is on with one of the worst guys on the air waves Nate Kreckman
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
well, he was previously on with THE worst guy on the airwaves- Klatt
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
that still doesn't explain why they split
Other than CJ realized how shitty Klatt is
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
102.3 was losing money so they dropped several people
They also reformatted there station from Live and Local to ESPN programming
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
I agree
Love CJ, but that show BLOWS.
Evans and Klatt is decent.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
not today, it's not
they’re talking about sweatshirts. For like 5 minutes
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
That's typical
actually, as they get often distracted. But Evans is fairly knowledgeable when they do talk about sports. And Klatt isn’t boring. It’s bearable sportstalk on my 45 min drive to Boulder every morning.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
Evans & Klatt beats Drew & Scott
I can’t stand Hastings, and Drew just loves relating everything back to baseball. Listening to them compare the Super Bowl to the NBA and MLB drives me nuts.
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
I like Klatt way better
as a talk show host than a TV commentator and Drew is probably the most objective commentator in Colorado. The same can’t be said of his counter part, Scott, which is obvious if you ever listen to him call a Nuggets game.
Sleepzilla23 - February 1, 2012
I like Klatt!
and CJ, and Scott, and Drew. You guys hate too much! But saying all that I haven’t listened to any of them in probably a year.
Kreckman sucks big time though. No argument there.
nebraskasux - February 1, 2012
CJ still on 102.3 w kreckman in late afternoon/evening.
neckbeard's nephew - February 1, 2012 via Android app
I figured he left to focus on his run for regent
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Haven't heard much more on him running
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
O-Line
Not trying to be selfish, but I sure would like to see one more O-lineman added to this class with Asiata leaving and everything. Other than that, this class is a great foundation for the future.
CUJCC - February 1, 2012
especially considering the OL talent from CO that's leaving
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Any chance the second Irwin brother moves over
to T a la Solder?
brettden - February 1, 2012
Probably Not
For one, he’s not 6’7".
CUJCC - February 1, 2012
Guard maybe?
brettden - February 1, 2012
always possible
but neither of the Irwins have the size or athleticism. More likely is a move to guard
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
you're too fast . . .
brettden - February 1, 2012
Embree's tweets are cracking me up.
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
yeah, "Embree"
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Vincent Hobbs signs
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Jeff Coprich goes Cal, FWIW
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
listening to Klatt and some other douche
I effing HATE Joel Klatt
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
That other douche got a Tebow tattoo after losing a bet
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
good. That's like a Scarlet A proving he's a douche
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
I also hate this other guy
They’re worse than the Dan Patrick show, which is saying a lot
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
The other guy, Mike Evans, once spent an entire show arguing that CU should move to the MWC
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
alfred williams and d-mac have the only tolerable show on that station imo
oxsnard - February 1, 2012
D-Mac is a D-bag too
brettden - February 1, 2012
face for radio for sure
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
I live in LA
I used to listen to CJ and Klatt occasionally. I liked CJ. In LA, I like Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley a lot, and Petros & Money and Mason & Ireland quite a bit.
Other than that, sports talk radio is shit. Where’s MY SHOW, RADIO GODS?!?
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
what about Hacksaw?
He is too funny, especially when he starts to get upset
brettden - February 1, 2012
Hacksaw Jim Duggan?
I would listen to that show
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Hacksaw Hamilton
isnt he on 690? Same station where Rome got his start. Those two on the same station was too funny . . . thats where the “GIVE ME BACK MY LIGHTENING BOLT” game from. way too funny.
brettden - February 1, 2012
love Max Kellerman
Dude is the bomb
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
ESPN wants to fire him
because he occasionally shits on ESPN.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
He was the reason I watched Around the Horn
then he got replaced after the first couple months and I haven’t bothered going back. He’s excellent on HBO. Knows his stuff, is obviously passionate, really gets into the atmosphere.
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
actually, he chose to leave because of a salary dispute
and he wanted to go Hollywood. But I agree. I love him. And he and Wiley are awesome together
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Didn't know he had a radio show
definitely gonna start trying to listen to that.
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
I'm pissed they moved Jim Rome
I know it’s on 102.3, but they don’t stream online, so I can’t listen at work.
Sports radio has gone way down hill since the new year. The only one I think that has a clue of what he’s talking about, is Sandy Klough
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
its actually worse. he’s on 1600 am
neckbeard's nephew - February 1, 2012 via Android app
Yeah, my bad. They don't have an online streaming app
It just connects you to Fox Sports.
If you listen to Rome, I’m sure you’re thinking: That’s why there’s jungle insider.
But I’m too cheap to pay for radio
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
Sandy is knowledgeable about every Denver sport
from like 1970.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
Exactly.
Plus he has no bias, which for as much as I appreciate Big Al’s takes most of the time, you have to admit he’s a big homer.
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
local sportstalk radio needs some homers.
but i agree, Sandy tells it like it is, not how he wants it to be.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
that is a load of bs
his entire being (body and soul) is composed of pure, unadulterated, bias. He just doesn’t really like anything. That is bias in it’s rawest form
oxsnard - February 1, 2012
um, that's not really bias if he doesn't like anything
One of my favorite sayings:
I’m not a bigot, I hate everyone, regardless of race, creed, color, or sexual preference.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
last night
he had a decent discussion on the Nuggs. I thought he was spot on. Didn’t hate, just saying we’re good, coulda/shoulda beat the Clips, and might have if Lawson was playing.
He’s just not all gooey eyed over Tebow, thank God. And doesn’t hate like like Al seems to sometimes.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
i can't comprehend how
someone can follow sports in the state for 40 years and not have any biases. Also if he doesn’t enjoy rooting (at least somewhat) for the local teams he follows, what in the world is wrong with him? Dude spends so much time on air talking about not being biased and not being a fan, like he needs to say it over and over again to justify his retarded arguments
oxsnard - February 1, 2012
y'all can't beat my Clippers
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
My wife has floor seats for Clips/Jazz tonight
Lucky
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
damn it!
well, she’s in Utah, apparently, so she still loses. I know a lady with Clippers season tickets, but she’s not fun or attractive, so I’m torn.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Just walk away
Life’s too short
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
but, CLIPPERS!
I’ve been a fan for years, because it’s been easy to score free tickets. Now it’s not easy, unless…
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Like being an Avalanche fan this year
lower bowl tickets for $15 on StubHub on a regular basis? Nice little upside of us being terrible
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
gross
I fully admit to giving up on hockey after the lockout
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Traitorous swine
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
haha. accepted
I moved to LA 6 years ago. I’ve been to 2 hockey games, both Avs/ Kings. Once because I got free suite tickets. Once because I got free tickets on the glass. Both because my friend Tyler only likes hockey.
I WAS with the Avs Stanley Cup party at the Chop House after game 7. I watched the riots from the balcony with Sakic.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Guard Play
Chauncey was awesome on Monday. And Paul is a Top 10 player in the league. However, even with Lawson out and Afflallo shooting like ass, we were up w/ 40s to go.
So, we can beat the Clips with better guard play. Whether that can happen remains to be seen.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
The Clips might get Kenyon Martin
Not sure how to feel about that. They definitely need some front court depth
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
K Mart can still play
when he wants to.
BuffulanceMan - February 1, 2012
but he's still K Mart
don’t want to ruin the chemistry. Having known him on a personal level, um, I’m not so sure
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
one thing . . .
I think we know that he will not think it is funny if you fill his Rover with popcorn.
brettden - February 1, 2012
I'm not sure K Mart has ever thought anything was funny. Ever
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
yeah
for being such a shitty/mediocre QB himself, he sure does love to criticize and nit pick a lot
oxsnard - February 1, 2012
Jeffey Thomas is a BUFF
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
Jeffrey Thomas
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
I'm calling him Jeffey forever
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Might as well the coach does too
Buff'em Up - February 1, 2012
TRR should put together a database of twitter handles for all the CU athletes/ coaches
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
I've done it.
But it also includes OU players and coaches. I’ll split out just the CU ones for everyone
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
for other sports as well?
tennis/ golf/ running…
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Ah, no
You would like all CU sports in one list?
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
sure, why not?
If you want a CU list, you can use that as a go to spot to choose who you want to follow
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Will do
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
actually, I should say...
I personally don’t necessarily need it, but it would be a good thing to have. When I did that piece on the fall signees, I thought about including twitter handles after the fact. But then I got lazy and stopped caring
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012

JOKES! I get jokes
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
You know,
I’m not even going to state what I was thinking as it shows how old I am. However, there was logic to my stupidness.

Funny how NSD is almost boring these days
Really just a formality these days, it used to be more of a surprise….
BuffnBigD - February 1, 2012
well, for us
NSD is still a big deal for a lot of schools.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Agreed, still cool since technically anything can happen
And its a big relief when docs get signed, just saying it seems to have lost a little of the excitement.
BuffnBigD - February 1, 2012
do they really still use a fax?
I asked my computer guy about a fax and he asked me if I wanted a rotary phone too . . . .
brettden - February 1, 2012
yes, they do
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
If I was a big time recruit, I would send my LOI via carrier pigeon
just think of the ratings! Where is that pigeon going? ESPNU will be following for the next 20 hours
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
I could see our pigeon flying to us over Ft Collins and getting shot down.
Those jealous bastards.
Roaring Fork Buff - February 1, 2012
haha recd

not that i care, but any insight on how goes up there for the farmers?
brettden - February 1, 2012
Last I saw was a class ranked 113th out of 120th
So pretty good by their standards
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
re: signing class?
it’s pretty terrible
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
what was that Alabama coach thinking?
brettden - February 1, 2012
I don't think he had a lot of HC options
just a guess.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
i suppose
easy for me to say, but I think I would wait it out for a better situation.

Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012

We seem to have targeted several school groupings. was that happenstance or did we target certain schools with the intent of getting multiple commits?

Good article on Buffzone about Embree vowing to get better at sealing the borders
Interesting tidbit about Leilon Willingham, too – hadn’t heard he’s transferring from Central Florida to Northern Colorado
http://www.buffzone.com/ci_19865390
highlandsbuff - February 1, 2012
what are you serious? Transferring to Northern Colorado? Why not CU?
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
Don't have to sit out for a year
CleBUFFS - February 1, 2012
dang…he was a 4 star recruit wasn’t he? Why didn’t he like UCF? Didn’t he basically start there as a true freshman?
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
looking good. over 20 signed already
dune1980r - February 1, 2012
FYI- if you're a Buff Club member and/ or season ticket holder (in any sport)
you can now tweet the newly signed Buffs per the NCAA

I effing love that guy
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
now he just chose Mayweather over Pacquiao, so I don't know what to think any more
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
2-3 years ago
that prediction would have been bolder
Sleepzilla23 - February 1, 2012
Mayweather still isn't winning
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Nothing would make me happier
Sleepzilla23 - February 1, 2012
3 of the 6 remaining guys are 2 star
Are/Can the Buffs rescind LOI from these guys?
3nS - February 1, 2012
Wasn't Speedy a two-star?
Let’s not do that.
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
wasnt solder a 2 as well?
dune1980r - February 1, 2012
They can not accept. Hell, you or I could send in an LOI
but they won’t. These are guys that Embree recruited, and he has his reasons. That’s all we have to go on.
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
I'm just curios
Although 4 are in California, 1 in Hawaii, and the other from Colorado.

CleBUFFS - February 1, 2012

I figure it’s better off that I do for both me and the company.
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
I as well, I just feel guilty on those days
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
This year, I am scheduling my knees to get cleaned out the morning of that Thursday
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
I am given a floating holiday at work that I have to use between New Year's and Memorial Day
It’s just too easy.
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
split it into 2- 1/2 days, 1/2 thursday and 1/2 friday?
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
I take PTO on the Friday
Good idea though.
You can find me and my buddies ballin’ at the gym in the morning until 10 when we cruise over to Buffalo Wild Wings and park ourselves for the next 5 hours or so. Ha
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
Should be a national holiday
IMO
clutch2999 - February 1, 2012
Boyle and Lappe both supposed to be receiving extensions today
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
This is great news!
CleBUFFS - February 1, 2012
Cyler Miles
4 PM Eastern deciding between UW and USC.
Damn i wish we coulda kept this kid in state
waterboy31321 - February 1, 2012
If he goes to USC and plays
that means he would have won the starting QB position against top tier talent and recruits….meaning we made a very big mistake in not keeping him here.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
That isn't happening
unless Barkley gets hurt
brettden - February 1, 2012
that's only this year
Miles has 5 years to hurt us
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
If memory is correct
Carson Palmer was the last QB that CU and USC battled over and that didn’t work out so well for us.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
yep
technically, we offered Matt Barkley first, but that wasn’t really a battle
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Best case scenario is Miles goes to USC
and gets buried on the depth chart.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
I think he'll stick with UW
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Miles will if UW had Tosh talk to him
That guys is an incredible recruiter.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
I don't even think it comes to that
UW has a good name at Mullen (Aguilar) and the rest of the class speaks for itself. He’ll go UW
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Kamehameha School?
Seriously? What an awesome name.
A.J. Haefele - February 1, 2012
who is the other greyshirt?
So we have 25 signed, one greyshirt and one early enrollee. That should mean we have 2 spots left, but we have three commits still unsigned. So are we asking one of those three to greyshirt? Do we expect one of these guys to enroll this week? Who has the scoop?
brettden - February 1, 2012
I think Embree is counting on one guy not to qualify
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
so we sign 28 and figure that out later?
brettden - February 1, 2012
yep
1 can count back, 1 can count forward. the other…?
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
these assholes arguing on ESPNU in favor of a 1 year scholarship?
You guys are ass clowns
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
players are only guaranteed one year schollies anyway aren’t they?
Connor Shreve - February 1, 2012
right now
but the B1G is pushing for multi year. tOSU is offering them this year
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
gotcha. I think that offering full four year deals is only fair
Connor Shreve - February 1, 2012
I agree that there should be 4 year scholarships, but I wonder what affect they will actually have.
If Saban is forced to give a kid a four year scholarship, is he going to sue when Saban tells him he is pulling the scholarship? Or will he just transfer or go on medical scholarship like he would now?
Texas Wahoo - February 1, 2012
That was my same question
Or if it’s basically only revoked if the student fails to meet some academic threshold. It seemed like basically another way to stratify recruits and programs.
Ash Jackson - February 1, 2012
who's left?
Kough and Rasmussen?
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
and Henington and McCartney
I’m guessing McCartney doesn’t sign (or doesn’t send in an LOI)
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
at this point we need Henington
just to save face on the number of in state recruits.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
regardless, our instate recruiting is dogshit
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Agreed
All of that O-Line talent that left pains me.
clbuff28 - February 1, 2012
the rest of the Pac 12 is destroying us for buzz
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
whoever runs Embree’s twitter needs to start using this “Here comes RALPHIE” thing for when we get recruits from here on out
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
I agree.
Love it. Wonder who we just got?
Jon Woods - February 1, 2012
I will guess Kough
no go check your email
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
*now
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
nope- Rasmussen
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
Holy crap- it's only 10:30 in the morning?
Phil Fraser - February 1, 2012
hi everyone
Rasmussen is in
Denny Majewski - February 1, 2012 via mobile
